Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg is sticking close to both The CW and the shows producer, Josh Schwartz by signing on for their latest collaboration.
The CW has ordered a script for a new drama developed by the Buffy The Vampire Slayer alumna which will revolve around a young criminology student who has a knack for profiling but also has a dark past of her own. Trachtenberg will not only star in the series but will also serve as a producer.
"Trachtenberg has joined forces with producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage under their shingle Fake Empire for this one hour drama, Trachtenberg's rep told EOnline. "They pitched Michelle's idea to Warner Bros. Studio, [which] bought the pitch right then and there, and immediately took it to the CW, [which] bought it in the room."
Along with Trachtenberg, the potential new drama is a project of Gossip Girl executive producer Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Schwartz is a familiar name to many fans with a resume that includes cult favorites The O.C, Chuck, and Gossip Girl. Movie-goers will also be able to check out his writing in the upcoming X-Men: First Class film which is due for release next year.
Like Buffys creator Joss Whedon, Schwartz is apparently fond of reaching into his stable of familiar actors for new projects. He will team up with another of his former stars for lighter fare on NBC. The O.C. star Rachel Bilson will star in a romantic comedy called Ghost Angeles. In the show, Bilson (who played Summer in The O.C.) plays a woman who can see dead people : not that there are any of those on television these days.
Both shows are expected to be developed for the fall 2011 season.
