There is some confidence left in "Lie To Me" apparently.
Fox has ordered the back-nine episodes of the show despite its struggles in the ratings Monday nights as a lead-out from "House," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This will give "Lie To Me" a full season, and a chance to try and prove itself as a worthy pairing with "House." So far this season, the Tim Roth-star vehicle has earned a 4.6 rating/7 share overnight average, according to The Nielsen Co., losing more than 42 percent from its "House" lead-in.
However, "Lie To Me" has finished as one of Fox's better-rated programs, last week finishing in fifth place for the network behind "House," "Bones," "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy." This week, "Lie To Me" actually edged out the Sunday night animation block, and is currently second to only "House" on a short holiday week.
Since moving from Wednesdays last season, "Lie To Me" is down nearly 25 percent from its 6.1/10 average last season.
There may be new episodes for "Lie To Me," but fans will have to wait to see more episodes of "Glee." The critically-acclaimed freshman comedy is taking a bit of a break ... until April 13, according to Entertainment Weekly. The Fox show will air its last episode before the break on Dec. 9.
But it's not all bad for "Glee." When it does come back, it's moving from Wednesdays to Tuesdays, taking over the spot that had been intended for "Past Life" and is currently filled by "So You Think You Can Dance" following juggernaut "American Idol."
However, past experience has proven that long breaks like this -- especially for young programs -- does not bode well. CBS put "Jericho" on a long mid-season break a couple years ago during its freshman run, only to come back with ratings that had plummeted, causing a cancellation order. Even more successful shows like "Heroes" and "Lost" saw significant drops in audience after extended mid-season breaks as well.
So hopefully, the lead-in boost from "American Idol" will be enough to counter it.
