The same week CBS Corp. said it would promote WCBS-New York president and general manager Peter Dunn to head of the company's television stations, the Eye has announced a number of other management restructuring moves as the media company looks to have a stronger foothold in local television markets.
Among the changes, Anton Guitano will become the chief operating officer of CBS Local Media, the company's new local broadcasting segment, according to a release. Guitano was chief financial officer and senior executive vice president of operations for CBS Radio.
Guitano will report directly to CBS Corp. head Les Moonves as well as CBS Radio chief Dan Mason, and Dunn. Guitano is expected to lead CBS' efforts to capitalize on local news and Internet properties collection throughout the country.
Mason, who has headed CBS Radio since 2007, had his contract extended. His job in the coming months will be to build on the division's growing ratings and improving financial position.
All of that comes at the same time Dunn was named head of the 29-station portfolio of CBS Television Stations.
"This is a good time for this move," Moonves said in a release. "Our TV and radio stations are gaining momentum week by week and are operating from a position of strength."
CBS as a network has been having a solid season so far, especially since it has yet to have a single first-run, non-event and non-news program fall below the 4.0 household overnight rating mark. That has allowed it to lead all networks in terms of viewers so far this season, and recently win the first week of sweeps.
