Teacher, students stabbed at Sydney high school; boy arrested

The 16-year-old boy who was arrested following the stabbing of a teacher and two fellow students at Bonnyrigg High School, has been charged by police.
Police and paramedics were called to the high school at around 8.45am after reports that a number of people had been stabbed.The teacher and male student have been taken to Liverpool Hospital while the female student is being treated by paramedics at the school.She found out about the attack via the news, and posted to Facebook saying: “When I heard the news this morning about my daughter I was shaking, crying and most of all anxious about my daughter and the thing that upsets me even more is that the school didn’t contact me or the emergency contact number that I provided to them when they were supposed to contact me immediately as soon as it happened”.UPDATE 9:20am: Police have confirmed a high school student has been arrested following an alleged stabbing.All of the patients were in a stable condition in hospital, and their injuries were not life-threatening, police said.Another student said the school went into lock-down.

A male teenager wearing a school uniform was seen being led away by police to a police auto.A backpack was lying on the ground alongside a knife, a meat cleaver, a Stanley knife and some scissors.A Year 11 student, who declined to be named, said she was sitting in roll-call in the school’s science block when a boy walked in and stabbed the trio. There was also a water bottle and a mobile phone.It is not yet known what interactions the teacher and the students had with the boy, police say.Police said the attack occurred as the teacher was opening a classroom.A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education said counselling had been made available at the school for students and staff.He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Friday.
